Westerly - The New England Science & Sailing Foundation will hold its second annual "Catch a Curl" Youth Surf Classic at the Westerly Town Beach on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
The event, which attracted 29 competitors under 18 last year, is open to beginners through advanced surfers who will surf in four divisions based on ability.
NESS has soft top surfboards available for rent. Registration is $35 per person and includes a T-shirt and prizes.
Registrations and warm-ups will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Contestants can register in advance at www.nessf.org or contact contest organizer Mistral Dodson at (860) 535-9362.
"We were just stoked with the turnout of participants and their families at the beach," Dodson said about last year's event. "It was a fantastic, fun, family event. We accomplished everything we wanted to achieve in promoting beginner and advanced surfing, along with community support in keeping our beaches and ocean healthy and clean!"
