Finizio asks Londregan to step down as New London law director

New London — Mayor-elect Daryl Justin Finizio said today that Thomas Londregan will not return as the city law director.

Finizio also said that Michael J. Tranchida, the city clerk, and Dawn G. Quinn, the assistant city clerk, will not return to their positions.

The mayor-elect said it was his decision to make changes in all three positions. Finizio has launched a transition website where he is accepting applicants for various positions in his new administration.

Finizio said Londregan has been helpful recently as he prepares to become the city's first strong mayor since the 1920s. But, Finizio said, he asked Londregan not to re-apply for reinstatement as the city's law director.

"I mentioned to him that I think it's time for a new person or a younger person in the post to join the administration," Finizio said. "He agreed. There are members of his firm that have applied and they will be reviewed on an individual basis."

Finizio also said that candidates from outside of Londregan’s Firm, Conway, Londregan, Sheehan and Monaco, P.C., will be interviewed for the law director position.
