The Last Green Valley’s Sustainable Communities Program announces open registration for Brownfields Redevelopment and Storm Water Management workshops this fall.
These seminars are aimed at providing municipal staff and leaders with viable and practical tools for sustainable development. The workshop sessions will be coordinated and presented by members of CME Associates, Inc., a local architecture and engineering firm with specialized expertise in these areas.
“Practical Brownfields Redevelopment Strategies for Connecticut” will address the challenges faced by property owners and municipalities in redeveloping some of Connecticut’s most prominent sites. Strategies to overcome regulatory, financial, and safety issues will be discussed. This workshop will be offered twice: from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 30 at Eastconn, 376 Hartford Turnpike, Hampton; and from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at Dime Savings Bank, 290 Salem Turnpike, Norwich. Dinner is included.
“Basics of Storm Water Management and Low Impact Development Storm Water Methods” will cover what storm water is, the available systems including low impact alternatives, and how these systems provide protection to the environment. Sessions will be 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 22 fat Dime Savings Bank in Norwich, and 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29 at Eastconn. Dinner is included.
“Storm Water Best Management Practices from a Public Works Perspective” is designed for public works and municipal officials. Sessions will be noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 4 at Dime Savings Bank in Norwich, and noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 11 at Eastconn. Lunch is included.
