Police break up large party Thursday, charge Conn College students

New London — Four Connecticut College students were charged with breach of peace Thursday night after New London and Coast Guard police shut down a party at the students' home at 760 Williams St.

New London police encountered a "large party and unruly crowd" when they responded to the address at about 11:30 p.m., according to a press release by New London police Saturday. Coast Guard police were called to assist New London police in dispersing the crowd at the party, which included various types of alcohol and a disc jockey, police said.

After a majority of the crowd had left, police issued criminal summonses for breach of peace to Isabel Marx, 21, Reshma Shah, 22, Haley Dumke, 21, and Charlotte McAuley, 21, all of 760 Williams St. They are expected to appear in New London Superior Court on Oct. 17.

Police said in the release that they have been to the Williams Street address, which is primarily rented by Connecticut College students, numerous times over the past several weeks to investigate parties that have ranged from 75 to 150 students. Police said they will continue to monitor the residence.
