Dispatch Raising Funds for Breast Cancer Foundation

Here Brunelle, left; Melanie DelPescio, daughter of a dispatcher; and Dispatcher John Mayhew model their pink shirts. The shirts will be available for sale all month long at the communications center at the Police Department.

When most people enter the Madison Police Station, they walk up to the large window at the back of the lobby. They get a view of the communications center and the 911 dispatch operation. During the month of October, visitors will also see a sea of pink. The Madison 911 dispatchers will be wearing pink T-shirts as part of an effort to raise awareness of breast cancer. The dispatchers are selling the pink shirts, which carry the 911 logo and the name of the local shoreline non-profit organization that will benefit, the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation of Old Saybrook. The shirts cost $20.

"We wanted to give back to the community," said Dispatcher Steve Brunelle.
