Colchester emergency dispatchers move to Tolland

Colchester – As part of an ongoing statewide consolidation plan, state police emergency dispatchers in Colchester have moved to Tolland.

The move from Troop K on Old Hartford Road in Colchester to the Eastern District Consolidated Dispatch Center at the state police Troop C barracks in Tolland became effective on Monday. Troop K’s new phone number is (860) 465-5400.

State police, in a written statement, said Troop K is fully staffed but all 911 calls are now automatically rerouted to Tolland. The barracks is not closing, but police said that in the event someone is not at the barracks, dispatchers can be reached at an emergency phone number.

The latest move is part of an overall state police plan to create three main districts and reduce the number of dispatch centers from 12 to five.

The plans in eastern Connecticut will consolidate dispatchers from Troop C, D, E, and K.

Dispatchers at Troop D in Danielson moved to Tolland last month, and dispatchers from Troop E in Montville are expected to move sometime before the end of the year.

Troop K covers the towns of Andover, Colton, Bozrah, Colchester, Columbia, East Haddam, East Hampton, Franklin, Hebron, Lebanon, Marlborough, Portland, Willimantic and Windham.
