Norwich — A water line break beneath the access drive to the state Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Transportation facility on Route 82 forced closure of the DMV office Tuesday afternoon.

The break was expected to be repaired by the end of the day, said Chris LaRose, Norwich Public Utilities assistant general manager.

The break was reported at 12:45 p.m., when water was seen bubbling up from the access road. LaRose estimated it would take four hours to repair the line.
