New London — The Covenant Shelter board of directors has hired Jodie Craig-Atkinson to be the agency’s executive director.
Craig-Atkinson officially joined the Covenant Shelter, which provides emergency housing for single men and women and families, in March.
The board of directors in a statement said that Craig-Atkinson is a visionary leader who brings a vast experience in civic engagement, housing advocacy, family services and finance.
More recently she was the housing coordinator for Alliance for Living, Inc. and while there was promoted to director of programs and finance.
Craig-Atkinson has a bachelor’s degree in critical social thought from Mount Holyoke College and a master’s degree in public administration from University of New Haven.
The board said that during her short tenure at Covenant Shelter she has established a management and organizational structure with a clear governance protocol and important fundraising relationships, built strong corporate and community partnerships, strengthened programs, and balanced community needs with strategic growth and resources.
