Norwich – City police on Thursday served a narcotic-related search warrant at the Abbey Road Smoke Shop where they said they seized a kilogram of the synthetic marijuana known as K2.

Two people were charged as a result of what police said is a continuing investigation. Police said Thursday was the third time a search warrant was executed at the 460 N. Main St. shop.

Christopher Benoit, 26, and Jeffery Lussier, 31, were each charged with possession of synthetic cannabinoids with intent to sell and possession of narcotics. Lussier was additionally charged with operating a drug factory. Police say more arrests are anticipated.

In January, state and Norwich police conducted simultaneous raids at the Abbey Road Smoke Shop in Norwich and Abbey Road at 7E School St. in Jewett City. At that time, two men were charged and police seized more than $800 in cash, 3 pounds of synthetic marijuana and more than 300 smoking pipes.

Police said any information regarding drug sales can be left on the anonymous tip line at (860) 886-5561, ext. 500.

As our children crash from Halloween candy overload, we look ahead to the next big holiday: Thanksgiving. What are you looking forward to seeing on your dining room table on the 4th Thursday of November?
Cranberry sauce: Whether it's the home made stuff containing actual cranberries or the reddish jelly shaped like the can it plopped out of, it reminds me of childhood.
Turkey, of course: Turkey slathered in gravy. Turkey with cranberry sauce (see above). Turkey with mashed potatoes on it. Turkey in sandwiches the next day. All I care about is the golden bird.
Latkes: For the first time in 125 years, Thanksgiving falls during Hanukkah so our table will be filled with the best food both holidays have to offer. Happy Thanksgivikkah!
My Thanksgiving has been completely taken over by the ever-earlier Black Friday sales. My big meal will be looking more like a fast food burger in line outside of Best Buy than the traditional sit-down meals from days of ole.
