New London police make arrest after hashish discovered in college dorm

New London - A fire alarm in a Connecticut College dorm Tuesday led to the discovery of hashish and the arrest of a resident.

Douglas Rosenberg, 20, of 62 College Drive, Hamilton Dorm, Room 110, was charged by New London police with operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Campus security responded to the fire alarm and Rosenberg fled, leaving behind "illegal substances," police said. Hashish, which is made from parts of the marijuana plant, was found along with another controlled substance police did not identity.

Police were called to the scene at about 8:30 p.m. and took Rosenberg into custody at 9:57 p.m., police records show.

Rosenberg is free on a non-surety bond. Court information was not immediately available.
