An Army veteran who is waiting to resolve charges that he shot his girlfriend in the chest while experiencing a flashback to his deployments in the Middle East was sent back to prison Wednesday because he was not obeying a judge’s order that he live in a sober house.

Jason Durr, 29, of Lebanon was charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and illegal possession of an assault weapon after he allegedly shot Rachel Trombino with an assault-type rifle in May 2012. Durr was released from prison to the veterans affairs hospital in West Haven and then underwent treatment for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northport, N.Y.

He was released in June to the Evolution Properties sober house in New Haven and has been attending therapy at the VA hospital.

New London Superior Court Judge Susan B. Handy raised his bond from a promise to appear in court to $250,000 and ordered judicial marshals to take Durr into custody Wednesday after receiving information that he was living with a friend.

“You don’t get to live where you want,” Handy told him.

Durr is mulling a plea offer from prosecutor David J. Smith and eventually will have to tell the judge whether he is accepting or rejecting the offer. If he turns it down, he will have a trial.

Trombino, the victim, underwent emergency surgery after Durr called police to report the shooting. She has been attending his court appearances and has said she wants Durr to be incarcerated despite his claims of PTSD.

Durr will return to court on Monday.

As our children crash from Halloween candy overload, we look ahead to the next big holiday: Thanksgiving. What are you looking forward to seeing on your dining room table on the 4th Thursday of November?
Cranberry sauce: Whether it's the home made stuff containing actual cranberries or the reddish jelly shaped like the can it plopped out of, it reminds me of childhood.
Turkey, of course: Turkey slathered in gravy. Turkey with cranberry sauce (see above). Turkey with mashed potatoes on it. Turkey in sandwiches the next day. All I care about is the golden bird.
Latkes: For the first time in 125 years, Thanksgiving falls during Hanukkah so our table will be filled with the best food both holidays have to offer. Happy Thanksgivikkah!
My Thanksgiving has been completely taken over by the ever-earlier Black Friday sales. My big meal will be looking more like a fast food burger in line outside of Best Buy than the traditional sit-down meals from days of ole.
