Noteworthy: 

-- First of four games for UConn in the 2K Sports Classic tournament that culminates with two games in New York next week.

-- It is the Gampel Pavilion home opener.

-- Detroit is last non-conference team to win inStorrs, posting a 67-61 win in second round of 2001 NIT. Since that loss, Huskies won 39 straight at Gampel.

-- The Titans picked to finish eighth in Horizon League preseason poll.

-- Player to watch: Howard Jr., the leading scorer and rebounder and son of former NBA player Juwan Howard.

-- Top reserve: fr. guard Jarod Williams (11.5 pts).

-- Once again, Rebounding is the statistic to watch. The Titans average 51.5 rebs per game, including 22.5 on the offensive end. UConn is minus 4.5 in rebounding margin in two games.

-- Reserve power: The Huskies are averaging 30.5 points from reserves. Sr. Niels Giffey is scoring 14.0 off the bench.

-- Hot: UConn is shooting 52.5 percent from 3-point range. Cold: Daniels is averaging just four points on 4-for-14 shooting.
