As I read the Nov. 24 paper, I feel I must comment on the lack of professionalism being asked for by the union representing you, the nurses and technicians at L+M Hospital.
By definition you, as a professional, are a person characterized by or conforming to the technical or ethical standards of a profession (2): exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace.
Please tell me how harassing persons in their home is considered professional behavior? Please think twice before you put your career on the line; but most of all, please consider the effect on your patients.
So please sit back down at the table; be willing to work out your differences with management.
My experiences with you, the staff, at L+M have always been positive. Please don't dismiss compromise out of hand. I'm sure there is a better way to end this impasse than to mimic our Congress and their lack of bipartisanship.
You are the professionals; don't let the union take you down a path that probably will not end in a gain for anyone.
