Five taken to hospital after bus crash in Norwich

Norwich - Five people were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon following a crash involving a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a SEAT bus in downtown.

The crash occurred at about 2:08 p.m. in the area of Water Street and Chelsea Harbor Drive. City firefighters, joined by emergency medical personnel, remained at the scene until about 3 p.m.

Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Norwich Fire Battalion Chief Tracy Montoya said two people from the Jeep and three people from the bus were taken to The William W. Backus Hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
