Editor's note: This corrects an earlier version of the address of the fire.

Ledyard – Two dogs were rescued from a house that caught fire Saturday night in the Gales Ferry section of town, according to Gales Ferry Fire Chief Tony Saccone.

The fire at 14 Parkwood Drive was reported at around 9 p.m. as a car fire, he said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, Saccone said, and there were no injuries.

Two cars parked in the driveway were heavily damaged, as was the garage, which is attached to the house, and a bedroom above the garage, Saccone said.

Gales Ferry, Ledyard, Naval Submarine Base, Center Groton and Poquetanuck fire departments responded, as did Ledyard Ambulance.

Fire marshal Jim Mann is at the scene investigating.
