About last night, or, one game had ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY THREE POINTS

    Howdy,

So, anyone see anything noteworthy last night?

Tuesday's state quarterfinals blessed us a little bit of everything. To wit:

    ■ Darien beat Hand with a game-winning field goal as time expired.

    ■ Brookfield scored with 38 seconds left to beat Thanksgrabbing rival Bethel.

    ■ Eighth-seeded Ridgefield halted a two-point conversion with 16 seconds remaining to hold off Newtown.

    ■ Eighth-seeded Bloomfield smothered previously unbeaten Capital Prep/Classical Magnet/Achievement First.

    ■ That Arkeel Newsome chap ran for a career-high 492 yards and seven touchdowns for Ansonia.

    ■ St. Joseph scored more points than most boys' basketball teams will rack up in a game this winter as it beat Ledyard, EIGHTY FOUR TO FORTY NINE. The combined 133 points broke the state record for most points in a game, set by Norwich Free Academy in its 130-0 win over Bulkeley of New London in nineteen-aught-two.
