Groton - Groton holds its annual Holiday Lights Parade at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and police said drivers should expect some traffic and road closures during the event.
Route 1 will be closed between Depot Road and Meridian Street from just before the parade starts until it ends, a police news release said.
Drivers should also expect traffic on Fort Hill Road between Depot Road and South Road starting at 4:30 p.m. until after the event is over.
The parade travels down Route 1, from the area of Poquonnock Road at South Road to the Groton Shopping Plaza.
“The Groton Police urge everyone to use caution while driving in the area of the parade, and be observant for pedestrians,” the news release said. Police also urged spectators to stay on sidewalks and to keep children out of the street.
