Preston — A contractor working at the Preston incinerator on Route 12 was injured at around 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon in an accident that involved a piece of equipment, said Preston First Selectman Robert Congdon.
Congdon could not provide details about the worker’s identity or condition.
The worker was taken to the hospital, according to Covanta, the company that owns the incinerator. Spokesman James Regan did not discuss how serious the injuries were. A statement from Regan said the cause of the accident is still being investigated.
Firefighters responded to the accident at approximately 4:30 p.m., according to Preston Fire Chief Tom Casey.
State Police Lt. Paul Vance did not return requests for comment Thursday night.
