Hurray for Bonnie Giesler for putting a voice to what I and I expect many others have been thinking for a long time, "Cut Congress's pay, not veteran benefits," (Dec. 29).

I agree with everything she said. When is our selfish and greedy government going to give back what they have slowly been taking from our veterans and those in the Armed Forces for many years? All those who have served and those who are serving in the Armed Forces should be receiving the same medical benefits Congress receives. I am the widow of a veteran.

My husband was very proud to be of service to his country. It isn't right that so many veterans are homeless and going without the medical care they need. My heart goes out to all of them. May God bless our veterans, all those in the Armed Forces and their families; that is my prayer.

May the time soon come when our nation will be the light on the hill it once was to the rest of the world.
