Rhode Island State Police said there were 11 accidents along a one-mile stretch of Interstate 95 near Exit 3 around 12:30 p.m. this afternoon as the road surface quickly became slippery.
The crashes, none of which police said were serious, involved cars going off the road and into the median, police said. Multiple ambulances responded including some from Westerly and Stonington. Exit 3 is eight miles from the Connecticut border and connects with Route 138 in Richmond.
