East Lyme - As part of the 18th annual East Lyme High School Cardboard Boat Challenge, students from Technology Education teacher Lew Tucker's engineering and pre-engineering classes, who built boats as part of their course, were joined by fellow East Lyme High School students and staff as well as guests from Plainfield High School, Old Saybrook High School and Bacon Academy Wednesday.

Race rules required boats to be constructed of cardboard and tape and to complete one lap of the pool.
