Juvenile justice forum to be held in Norwich

Norwich – The state's Juvenile Justice Alliance will host an educational forum Thursday on its recent investigation into allegations that children of color can receive harsher treatment in the state juvenile justice system.

The alliance recently sponsored a Connecticut Public TV documentary “The Color of Justice,” which will be shown at the 6:30 p.m. forum at the Kelly Middle School auditorium, 25 Mahan Drive. The forum is free and open to the public.

The documentary details racial disparity in the state juvenile justice system and outlines approaches to reduce it.

The Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance is partnering with CPTV to lead educational forums around the state based on the documentary.

The free two-hour events are led by CTJJA facilitators and include access to resources attendees can use to learn more about the issues.

For more information, go to the alliance’s website at: http://ctjja.org/colorofjustice. For information about the forum, contact Norwich Youth and Family Services at (860) 823-3782.
