The town engineer has been suspended for three days, without pay, for not disciplining an employee who discarded a $400 piece of equipment instead of spending $15 to repair it.
Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. Tuesday morning confirmed that Kevin White has been suspended, but declined to make any further comment on the matter.
A high level source, however, said that White was suspended for not disciplining an unnamed employee who, instead of buying a part to repair a pump, threw the piece of equipment out.
White’s suspension, the mayor said, started on Tuesday and will last through Thursday.
White could not be reached for comment.
The mayor said nobody else, besides White, had any disciplinary action taken against them. Other media reports, previously, stated that another Public Works employee was also disciplined.
