Norwich woman to face drug factory charge

Norwich – A 20-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday on several drug-related charges, including operating a drug factory.

Yamaris Collazo of 59 Merchants Ave., unit 1, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and operating a drug factory.

Collazo was arrested after city police and the Statewide Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant and seized several items including heroin, cutting agents, packaging material, small amounts of marijuana and cocaine, and more than $400 in cash.

Police executed a similar warrant at 53A Merchants Ave. The investigation there is ongoing and arrests are expected, police said. Both addresses are within 1,500 feet of Wequonnic Elementary School and Sacred Heart School.

Collazo was held on a $25,000 bond and secured her own release.
