On Jan. 11, the Yellowjackets (8-1) were handed their first blemish of the season in a 6-3 loss to No. 1 Notre Dame-West Haven at Bennett Rink. Notre Dame jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead and the Easties were unable to recover. Matthew Longobardi, Tristan Goodwin, and Mike Falanga were goal scorers and Longobardi and Dylan Butler each had an assist. Tom DeLucia made 33 saves.
East Haven then beat Westhill 7-1 on Jan. 8. Anthony Avallone had two goals and one assist. Longobardi, Falanga, Goodwin, Butler, and Corey Smith were the other goal scorers for the Yellowjackets.
East Haven lost both its games last week, falling 63-34 to Hand and then 83-27 to No. 8 Career. Nick Durso was the high scorer for East Haven in both games, netting 13 against Hand, then 15 versus Career.
East Haven moved to 3-7 on the year after a 42-41 overtime win against Sacred Heart Academy on Jan. 7 and a 70-27 loss to No. 3 Career on Jan. 11.
In the win, Jenna Gaudioso led the way, securing a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Tori Carlson added nine points and continued to be a pest on defense with six steals.
East Haven was outdueled by Hand on Jan. 8, 65-7. Anthony Milano (132) and Mike DeMarco (182) were the two winners for the Yellowjackets as both won via decision. On Jan. 11, East Haven lost to Foran 72-6. Milano won via pin to keep his unbeaten season alive.
