Norwich - For the ninth year, Norwich Human Services will offer assistance to low and moderate income families to prepare and file state and federal income tax returns.
The program strives to help families qualify for and apply for both the state and federal Earned Income Tax Credits.
The maximum federal tax credit is $6,143, while the maximum Connecticut earned income tax credit is $1,511. Any Norwich individual or family earning $50,000 or less is eligible to apply.
Appointments for tax return assistance are available during the day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and during the evenings on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays until March 31.
Staff and volunteers at Norwich Human Services are certified by the IRS to complete federal and state income tax returns. Mary Bartlett, case manager of 25 years, heads up the program.
