Go into the Mystic at library photo show

Mystic is just one of those charmed towns. Perhaps it starts with the fact that the founding forefathers decided to name it in exotic and evocative fashion - "Mystic" - as opposed to Liver Gulch or Reeky Hollow or even Snoreville. It also helps that Mystic is pretty damned photogenic, not just architecturally but in terms of natural beauty. Nature photographer Stephen Sisk is a fine chronicler of all of this majesty. He's published a book, "Mystic Memories," and now presents a series of photographs in a new exhibition that opened Monday in the Ames Room of the Mystic & Noank Library, 40 Library St., Mystic. The show runs through Feb. 28, and there will be a "Meet the Artist" reception from noon to 2 p.m. on Feb. 8. Hours 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Mon.-Wed., 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thurs. and Fri.; (860) 536-7721, mysticnoanklibrary.org.
