At the end of this school year, two long-serving school leaders will leave district service for retirement: Principal Kit Bishop at Daisy Ingraham Elementary School and Principal Bob Hale of Westbrook High School.
At the Jan. 14 Board of Education meeting, the board agreed to initiate the search process for the retirees' replacements. The goal of the board and of Superintendent of Schools Pat Ciccone is to have the two new hires in place by
July 1, the start of the new fiscal year.
Ciccone said she plans to conduct focus groups with parents, guardians, staff, and administrators in late February to help refine the list of preferred qualities and qualifications of the new school leaders who will replace Hale and Bishop.
With advertising of the openings planned for February, the initial screening and interviews of candidates likely would start in March.
