Mashantucket - Foxwoods Resort Casino announced the appointments of two top executives Thursday, including Felix Rappaport, who was named chief operating officer, the casino's second-in-command.

Rappaport, 61, former president and chief operating officer of MGM Resorts International's The Mirage in Las Vegas, will be "a leader" in all aspects of the casino's operations, including gaming, marketing, entertainment, retail and food and beverage, Foxwoods said in a statement.

"Felix has been a leader in the gaming community and has been in charge of operations at the finest resorts in the industry," Scott Butera, Foxwoods' president and chief executive officer, said. "He is a true team player and will be a strong asset to the Foxwoods community."

Rappaport has more than 32 years' experience in the hospitality and gaming industries, and has been a gaming executive for the last 25 years. He has spent most of his career at MGM Resorts-owned properties, resigning from The Mirage at the end of 2012.

Also announced Thursday was the appointment of Anthony Mason as vice president, strategic marketing.

Foxwoods said Mason will develop marketing strategies, campaigns and programs through his management of database and direct marketing, and be responsible for all aspects of marketing and advertising.

Mason most recently served as corporate director of testing and optimization for Pinnacle Entertainment in Las Vegas and has less than eight years of experience in corporate strategic planning and analysis, ecommerce analytics and database marketing.

He has a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and a master's from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
