Guilford Police  have arrested a New Jersey man as a result of an investigation into a child abuse incident involving a three month-old infant. The incident took place in Guilford in July, 2013.

Daniel James Rudisill, 31, of Sayreville, NJ, was arrested on a warrant today and charged with risk of injury to a minor and first-degree assault.

According to Guilford Police, on July 25, 2013, the department received a report of suspected child abuse from the CT Dept. of Children and Family Services (DCF). The victim was reported to be a 3 month-old admitted to Yale-New Haven Hospital emergency care. The infant, who was vomitting and had a swollen head, had been injured at a residential address in Guilford on North View Drive, according to a police press release.

Guilford police detectives responded to the hospital's Children's Hospital Emergency Room and met with DCF representatives and emergency care providers at the hospital. Based on information gained during a lengthy investigation which followed, an arrest warrant was issued for Rudisill.

Rudisill turned himself in at police headquarters on Jan. 31. He was held on a court set bond of $100,000 and arraigned at New Haven Superior Court during the morning of Jan. 31.
