New London — The business development manager at the U.S. Coast Guard Research and Development Center, Jim Gynther, retired in a ceremony at the Coast Guard Academy Thursday, Jan. 30, after 30 years of working for the federal government and the Coast Guard.
Gynther, who served nine years on active duty in the Coast Guard, joined the staff at the RDC in 1992. He worked closely with the management team to identify and develop new business opportunities, foster relationships with other government agencies and establish research and development agreements with the private sector.
Capt. Alan Arsenault, the RDC’s commanding officer, said Gynther had a steadfast work ethic and was a valuable asset to the Coast Guard.
