Providence - Yuta Watanabe scored 20 points and had six rebounds as St. Thomas More beat Canarias of the Canary Islands 70-61 Sunday in the National Prep School Basketball Invitational at Rhode Island College.
Calvin Crawford scored 15 points, Eric Paschall had 14 points and Cane Broome had 10 points and eight assists for T-More (19-4).
Saturday night, T-More beat Bill Crothers of Markham, Ontario at RIC, 65-60. Crawford had 17 points and seven rebounds, Francis Kiapway scored 12 and Mike Wells had nine points, seven assists and five rebounds.
In other games:
• David Anderson came off the bench to score 19 points with six rebounds as Coast Guard beat Wheaton 73-55 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference game. Kevin Alvarez had 15 points, Eli Sponseller had 11 points and four steals, Ricky Rodriguez scored 10 and Devonte Weems had five assists for Coast Guard (5-14, 2-6), which snapped a three-game losing streak. Quinton Dale had 12 point and eight rebounds for Wheaton (7-10, 2-6).
• Malcolm Simmons and Keith Porter scored 16 points each as UConn-Avery Point beat Springfield Tech 63-48 Saturday. Sam Turner scored 11, Mike Martin had 10 points, Simmons had 11 rebounds and Porter had 10 rebounds for the Pointers (11-7).
• Fitch's Jordan Kenyon went 5-0 at 182 pounds as the Falcons went 2-3 at Law in Milford. Fitch (10-22) beat Housatonic Regional (48-24) and Vinal Tech (42-18) andl ost to Law (66-15), Derby (66-11) and Maloney (76-6). Kenyon had three pins, a technical fall and a forfeit. Billy Goff (160) won three matches for Fitch, two by pin.
• Williams beat Moses Brown 4-3 on Saturday. Jack Shannon, Adam Verhoeff, Jack Ficke and Oliver Falla won their matches for Williams.
