Old Lyme — After being closed for several weeks, the Lymes’ Senior Center at 26 Town Woods Road will reopen on Tuesday, said the center’s director Stephanie Lyon.
The center, which serves both the Old Lyme and Lyme communities, closed on Jan. 21 due to well water contamination. The towns since approved installing a deeper well for the center.
The new well has now been installed and the water tested, said Lyon.
The deeper well, drilled into bedrock, is typically less susceptible to water pollution than a shallower, dug well — the type formerly at the center, Old Lyme’s registered sanitarian Sonia Marino has said.
The center will open at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Normal programs will take place Tuesday at the center.
