Route 164 in Preston reopens after multi-vehicle crash

Preston — Route 164 reopened Monday night after emergency personnel cleared the scene of an accident involving three vehicles at the intersection of Route 164 and Old Shetucket Turnpike.

The accident was first reported at 7:34 p.m., with Preston City and Poquetanuck fire departments responding with state police.

Preston Fire Chief Tom Casey said one person was taken to The William W. Backus Hospital for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries. Six others declined medical treatment.

Details of the accident were not immediately available, and the accident remains under investigation by state police. Route 164 was closed until about 8:40 p.m.
