Most of the time, when you see a phrase like "Towards a new reality!" it's on a red, white and blue cardboard political sign attached to a wooden stake in someone's front yard. Not so, however, when it comes to a faculty art exhibit through March 5 in the galleries of the Cummings Arts Center at New London's Connecticut College.

Featuring the works of associate professor of art Gregory Bailey and professor of art Timothy McDowell, "Towards a New Reality" includes sculptures, dioramas, prints and paintings - all in conceptual response to dire warnings about the global environment.

An artists' talk from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Wednesday is followed immediately by a reception until 6 p.m. Both are open to the public. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Fri. and 1-4 p.m. Sat. and Sun. Cummings Art Center, 270 Mohegan Ave., New London.
