Mail appreciation

During these cold and snowy days when so much has been cancelled or postponed, I am impressed and cheered by the United States Postal Service. My local carrier has faithfully completed his "appointed rounds" on days that I have hesitated to leave the house, and I am again reminded of the importance of universal mail service as part of the connective tissue that binds us together as a nation. Reliable mail service that joins rural and urban for the same price and with the same promise is something worth preserving, and the bottom line is not just about turning a profit but serving the common good.
