Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center holds invasive insects talk

Stonington – The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center will present, “Invasive Insects of Connecticut Forests” a talk by Katherine Dugas of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 27.

Her talk will cover the latest information on some of the new insects affecting Connecticut forests, including two species of invasive ambrosia beetles that were surveyed locally this past summer. The nature center had a trap at the Peace Sanctuary. She will explain the biology, trapping protocol and potential impact of these invasive forest pests, and provide information on other pests such as the emerald ash borer and the Asian long-horned beetle.
