Alexander Kydd, 22, of 24 Adelaide St., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive in an established lane.
Police said the accident happened around 12:32 a.m. When police arrived, they found the utility pole in two pieces. No injuries were reported.
The street is closed as a Connecticut Light & Power crew repairs the pole. No power outages were reported.
