Real tax relief would be dropping cost of gas

Now that Gov. Malloy has projected a budget surplus, he is proposing a lump sum payment of $55. Besides not being very articulate, he must also have a couple screws loose. Most people know that $55 is equivalent to one fill up at the gas pump. Please, be proactive.

Knock 10 cents off the gasoline tax. If you fill up once a week with 20 gallons it would only take 28 weeks to save more than $55.

The rest is gravy. Another proposal would be to lower the sales tax back to 6 percent. The extra .35 percent would save $70 on the purchase of a $20,000 car. Let's 'Dump the Lump' and really do something worthwhile for the people of Connecticut.
