New London – Police say they have received several complaints recently about valuable items being stolen from cars overnight.

The cars that have been targeted were usually unlocked, according to a statement from the New London Police Department, and most thefts have taken place south of Bank Street. The burglary locations include Beckwith Street, Lee Avenue, Riverview Avenue, Shaw Street and Sunset Street, said police.

Police advised residents to keep car doors locked and remove or hide valuable items in the vehicle. Anyone who notices suspicious people loitering in the listed areas can call the police department at (860) 447-5269.
