    UConn football schedule is set

First-year UConn football coach Bob Diaco will make his American Athletic Conference debut on the road at South Florida on Sept. 19 in Tampa.

Storrs - UConn will open its second American Athletic Conference football season on the road in a nationally-televised game against South Florida in Tampa on Friday, Sept. 19.

The Huskies' 2014 schedule was released on Monday and the AAC opener against the Bulls (on either ESPN or ESPN2) is one of two conference games currently scheduled to be televised nationally. UConn will play at AAC newcomer East Carolina on Thursday, Oct. 23, on ESPNU. Times for both games, as well as the entire AAC schedule, will be announced at a later date.

First-year coach Bob Diaco will make his debut on national TV when the Huskies open their season at home against Brigham Young on Friday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. on ESPN. They will host Stony Brook and Boise State at Rentchler Field on the following two Saturdays before beginning the AAC schedule at USF.

UConn's other non-conference game will be played on Saturday, Nov. 8, against Army at Yankee Stadium on CBS Sports Network.

As for the rest of the AAC schedule, the Huskies will also play road games at Tulane (Oct. 11) and Memphis (Nov. 29) and have home dates against Temple (Sept. 27), Fiesta Bowl champion Central Florida (Nov. 1), Cincinnati (Nov. 22) and SMU (Dec. 6) in the season finale.

Houston and Tulsa, another AAC newcomer, are not part of UConn's conference schedule this season.
