Rick Koster: RORY GO BRAH!

If it's St. Patrick's Day, the home stereo, office stereo and car stereo of Rick Koster reverberate with the astounding musical buffet known as Irish Tour 74 .. by the late but immortal Rory Gallagher.

I've written many, many times about Gallagher, certainly one of the absolute finest blues-rock guitarists of all time – and certainly one of the most criminally under-appreciated.

I was also privileged to spend part of a rainy Thanksgiving night, post-show in Dallas' Electric Ballroom, with Gallagher and his band and tour manager, brother Donal Gallagher. To a man, each was gracious, funny and kind beyond any job requirement. They were just very genuine people – and that concert remains one of the best I've ever seen.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Here is a sampling of virtuosic Gallagher greatness from Irish Tour '74. Listen carefully. The energy, the love of music, the spontaneous unison vocal/guitar lines Gallagher uses in pure celebration, and of course the wonderful songs … Saint Rory!
