'Merchants of death' seek elderly victims

Paul Choiniere's commentary "Assisted suicide bill deserves a speedy demise" (March 2 ) was truly praiseworthy!

What happened to the Hippocratic Oath? "I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion."

Not content with the perversion of turning "healers" into contract killers of 55 million unborn children, merchants of death now seek to expand by killing the sick and infirm! They couch their murderous agenda in the form of sugar coated euphemisms, sophistry and semantics. Those who support this insidious legislation should read "The Nazi Doctors" by Robert Lifton, a chilling account of how getting doctors involved in euthanasia opened the floodgates of evil culminating in the Holocaust.

I vividly recall a prophetic homily by a Lithuanian priest who had fled Nazi Germany to escape persecution. Following the tragic Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973 and addressing the elderly in his congregation, he said, "I see a lot of grey hair out there; you may think this doesn't affect you, but mark my words, you will be next!"

Evil exploits a vacuum of decency and will aggressively fill it if unopposed.
