I would like to recognize Robert Marrion for speaking out regarding the bewildering and unprovoked criticism of my late father, Robert C. Weller, former president of Mitchell College in his op-ed, "Weller criticism unfair and contradictory," (March 25). I was going to take the high road after reading the editorial, "Mitchell's wise choice," (March 22), disparaging my father's 37 years at Mitchell as being "way too long for a modern president," and write off whoever wrote the editorial as ignorant, unfeeling and not worthy of a response. However, upon seeing the rebuttal by attorney Marrion, I must recognize him for reminding those in this community who may have forgotten all that my father accomplished while at the helm at Mitchell. My family and I have appreciated attorney Marrion's years of undying support and loyalty given to my father and the college into which my father poured his heart and soul. He has always been a dignified and eloquent role model to which all should aspire, certainly the current editor of The Day paper.
