While the arrival of the University of Connecticut's men's basketball team to the Final Four was a wonderful surprise, the women's squad marched their way into the championship bracket with an air of inevitability.

At times this season, the UConn women resembled more a collegiate all-star team than just another squad. Senior center Stefanie Dolson, senior guard Bria Hartley, junior forward Kaleena Moqueda-Lewis and sophomore guard Moriah Jefferson would be the star players on many teams. Both Ms. Dolson and Ms. Hartley were second team AP All-Americans, while the other two received honorable mentions.

Add to them the talented All-American sophomore forward Breanna Stewart - named the Final Four Outstanding Player a year ago as a freshman and this year a candidate for the Naismith Award - and you have a team that appears unbeatable.

Of course, Coach Geno Auriemma would never let them believe that. Overconfidence is perhaps this team's only real threat, and Coach Auriemma has proved through the years his skill at keeping it at bay. The remarkable thing is how hard his teams seem to always play, despite the often lopsided scores.

The program's achievements are historic. This is the team's 15th Final Four appearance and the seventh straight. UConn is going for its ninth national title. This kind of dominance has not been seen in college basketball since Coach John Wooden's UCLA men's teams won 10 national titles in 12 years between 1964-1975.

So congratulations to another Auriemma team for reaching the finals. Husky fans should enjoy it and never take this run for granted. It will not always be this way.
