If you've never seen the spring phenomenon of vernal pools, this weekend could be your chance.

On this Sat. Apr. 12th, Chris Cryder will guide a nature hike into the Preserve property to view two vernal pools. Interested hikers should meet at the M&J Bus Lot (130 Ingham HIll Road across from Pasta Vita) at 10 a.m. A shuttle bus will take hikers to and from the take-off point at the top of Barley Hill Road in Old Saybrook. The outing will be from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon.

Please do not bring dogs along on this hike. But do bring polarized sunglassed to better see the egg masses and creatures below the water's surface.

Cryder says that it will be a moderate hike with some off-trail sections.

If you have questions about the Sat. event, write to Chis Cryder at ccryder@svaethesound.org">ccryder@svaethesound.org or call him at 860-395-7016.
