Norwich - Police on Wednesday arrested four people in two separate raids targeting suspected crack cocaine and heroin dealing operations.
Police executed a search-and-seizure warrant at 85 Norman Road, Apt. 201, and arrested residents Tiffany Anderson, 21, and Calvin Richardson, 34. Both were charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell and operating a drug factory.
The arrests were made by detectives and patrol officers in a joint investigation with the Community Policing Unit. Seized as a result of the investigation was about four grams of crack cocaine, drug packaging and processing material along with more than $3,500.
Anderson was held in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond. Richardson was held in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond. Both will be presented Thursday in Norwich Superior Court.
In a separate investigation into heroin trafficking, police raided a home at 8 S. A St. in Taftville that was home to a suspected heroin trafficking operation. Police charged residents Shawn Brown, 37, and Dianis Mercado, 30, with possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to sell. Police said they seized 25 bags of heroin.
The Taftville arrests were the result of information provided by the Taftville Community Crime Watch.
Mercado was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and due to appear April 24 in Norwich Superior Court. Brown was held on a $50,000 cash bond and will be presented Thursday in Norwich Superior Court.
