Obama should learn frugality from pope

Reflecting on their recent meeting, I couldn't help but notice the stark contrast between Pope Francis and President Obama. Here we have a man of faith who chooses to forego papal luxuries in order to live simply and humbly compared to a man who personifies the reference of a "Royal Presidency."

The amount of money the Obama reign has cost the American taxpayer for his travels, including luxury vacations, is mind-boggling. A watchdog group, The National Taxpayers Union Foundation, states that President Obama has spent more time traveling internationally than any other modern president, 31 foreign trips since assuming office in 2009.

Just the cost of the family's flights on Air Force One is in the many millions with last summer's trip in and around Africa and the Christmas vacation in Honolulu totaling $15,888,585, according to Judicial Watch. In addition, there is an entourage of 900 staff and security personnel, 45 vehicles and 3 cargo planes. The first lady and daughters trip to China landed them in a five-star hotel with a price tag of $8,400 per night! Meanwhile, with our economy struggling, our president wipes away a big tear over income inequality, the plight of the poor and the necessity of income redistribution.

    The hypocrisy is overwhelming.
