Golf: A 30-player field

There will be a $10 million first prize in Atlanta … and a mere 30 players vying for it.

The PGA Tour Championship commences Thursday without Tiger Woods, Stuart Cink and Rickie Fowler, all captains picks for this years Ryder Cup, as well as Rory McIlroy.

So who will be at East Lake Golf Club?

Start with Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk and Matt Kuchar, who could hang on to win the Fed Ex Cup as the season's top golfer. Dustin Johnson (No. 2 behind Kuchar) will be in Atlanta as will Charley Hoffman, Steve Stricker and Paul Casey.
