"After the Thaw" by Ardis S. Holliday

Concurrent exhibitions are on display in the Mystic Arts Center. The annual juried show, titled "The Blues," is one - and the intriguing theme should provide all sorts of inspiration for the artists. The juror for "The Blues" is Robert Greene, adjunct professor at Eastern Connecticut State University - and, no, it's not a coincidence that the last name of an art professor is a color! The other exhibit is also an annual event at the MAC. "The Elected Artists" is open to all Mystic Arts Center Elected Artists members, and Ardis S. Holliday's "After the Thaw," shown here, is among the show's works. The opening reception for both exhibitions, which run through May 31, takes place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the center, 9 Water St., Mystic. Winners will be announced and light refreshments will be served. Hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily; (860) 536-7601, mysticarts.org.
